THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has said that Thrissur Pooram could be carried out under the Covid 19 protocol. The Pooram should be conducted following the customs. He also added that in order to proceed forward with Covid 19 prevention measures, awareness should be created from the panchayat level on a war footing mode.
“Panchayats must allocate more funds. Along with that, the insurance term of health workers should be extended. UDF workers must enter into the forefront to give the necessary assistance to Covid 19 patients. The district collectors must stop the practice of issuing orders as per their whims and fancies,” the Opposition leader said.
When asked about the editorial of Congress mouthpiece which welcomed Cheriyan Philip to the party, Chennithala replied that Cheriyan should decide whether he wants to come back.
“CPM should have considered him. It was not right for the left party to reject him. If he is interested to join Congress, then the party will definitely discuss that. Those who are leaving the party must remember Cheriyan Philip’s experience,” he added.
