murder

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A young man was stabbed to death by his friend following an argument between them while they were having alcohol. The deceased has been identified as Shangumugham native Shamnad (33). The incident took place on Sunday night at Abhi Villa, Durga Line in Malayinkeezhu. Shamnad's body was found lying on the bed in the bedroom with blood dripping from it. Police have arrested three people in connection with the incident.

According to police, the house owner Binu (35), his friends Vishnurup (35), Ranjith (35) and Shamnad had drinks together on Sunday night. While drinking, an argument broke out between Vishnurup and Shamnad. Though Binu tried to settle the dispute between the two, Vishnurup suddenly took a knife and stabbed Shamnad in the right thigh. They tore off Shamnad's jeans and tore the bed sheet and tied it to the wound to stop the bleeding. Binu told police that he had tried to take him to the hospital. However, he soon fell unconscious due to alcoholism and in the meantime, both Vishnurup and Ranjith fled the scene. When Binu woke up yesterday morning, he saw Shamnad lying on the bed bleeding. It was Binu himself who informed the Malayinkeezhu police about the incident. Police reached the spot and took Binu into custody. Both Vishnurup and Ranjith were arrested later in the day.

The deceased Shamnad and others were friends and drivers and caterers. Neighbours told police that the group used to gather at Binu's house for celebrations.
