THRISSUR: A decision has been taken to hold Thrissur Pooram symbolically this time as well due to the massive surge in Covid cases. Eight constituent temples participating in the festival have decided to skip the celebrations. Each temple will have 50 organizers. All constituent temples will hold ezhunallippu with only one elephant. This is the third time Pooram is being held without celebrations.

These decisions were taken at the meeting chaired by the district collector. The meeting was attended by devaswom representatives, commissioner and the DMO. All those having entry should carry RTPCR negative result or a certificate of having taken two doses of vaccine. The Covid test of the organizers, mahouts and media persons will be held today.
