KOCHI: The Kerala High Court upheld the Lok Ayukta order against K T Jaleel seeking ouster of the minister for misusing power over nepotism charges. The court said the Lok Ayukta order was issued after examining all aspects. The court rejected the plea filed by KT Jaleel arguing that Lok Ayukta had violated the rules.

Jaleel argued that there was no preliminary probe or final enquiry in the complaint against him and the Lok Aayukta order outside rules should be quashed. However, the Lok Ayukta ruled that Jaleel had misused power and there was a breach of oath and is not deserved to continue as a minister. The controversy against Jaleel was that he appointed his relative K T Adeeb as the general manager of the State Minority Development Corporation. Youth League state secretary P K Feroz on November 2, 2018 levelled allegations of nepotism against Jaleel. Jaleel had ordered to change the educational qualifications of his relative Adeeb, who did not have adequate educational qualification for the post. The Lok Ayukta mentioned this in their order. The Lok Ayukta conducted a probe and issued an order on the complaint of youth league leader V K Muhammad Shafi that Jaleel violated his oath of office for personal gain. Jaleel resigned from the ministry on April 13 following Lok Ayukta order two and a half years of the controversy.
