KOZHIKODE: With the state-wide expansion of the 'Help Desk Manager' software, complaints will no longer pile up at the Water Authority. Complaints can be registered in five seconds. Billing issues can be resolved within minutes.

The software was developed by Kunnamangalam native MP Shafeeq, a UD clerk of the West Hill subdivision 1. The software has been implemented in Kozhikode, Palakkad and Kottayam districts. It will soon be extended to all sub-divisional offices. Online training is going on in Alappuzha. It will be completed soon in other districts as well.

Shafeeq moved to West Hill while working in the Quality Controller's Office in Malaparamba. At that time, complaints regarding arrears, repayments and meter readings used to get piled up at his new office. It was almost impossible to solve the complaints as there was no unified system. The idea behind the new software was to make the job easier with the help of the Excel program.
Shafeeq, who was previously familiar with computer work at a bookstall, began working on the new software with the help of YouTube. His efforts to develop the new software, which began in May, paid off in September.

Initially, the software was configured to resolve complaints in his own office. Later it was modified for use in all offices. On January 14, Authority Accounts Member V.S. Rema Subrahmany permitted to implement this elsewhere.
