vaccine-shortage-

KOTTAYAM: In the midst of mega vaccination camps going on in various districts of the state, Kerala is heading towards severe vaccine shortage. Huge rush was witnessed in the districts of Palakkad and Kottayam districts. The people who were registered in the Covin app had reached the vaccination centres in the early morning. Along with this, those who have not registered for vaccination also reached the vaccination centres which enhanced the rush. Adding oil to the burning fire, the police distributed tokens to all without distinguishing between registered and non-registered. This created spat and skirmish between the people and police at Kottayam Baker Memorial School.

Those who came to take the vaccine in Moins LP school, Palakkad crowded in the vaccination centre without following social distancing norms. In Pathanamthitta, 83 out of the 90 mega vaccination centres in the district are running with a severe shortage of vaccines due to which the entire programme could be halted in the days to come. Only 3,500 doses of vaccines are left in various centres of the district.
