KOZHIKODE: Restrictions are being tightened following the massive surge of Covid cases in the district. The district collector issued an order making mandatory Covid negative certificate for those attending weddings on Sundays.

Although all gatherings are banned on Sundays, the new order comes as the ban on weddings is hampered. Everyone attending the wedding should carry a negative certificate. District Collector Samba Siva Rao said only 20 people are allowed to attend the wedding.

The new decision was taken in the meet convened by presidents and secretaries of local self-governing bodies. The test positivity rate in many local bodies in the district is higher than the state test positivity rate. Restrictions are tightened because of that, the collector pointed.
