NEW DELHI: Chief Justice SA Bobde will retire on Friday. Justice NV Ramana will take charge as the next Chief Justice of India on Saturday.

Justice SA Bobde took charge as the 47th Chief Justice of India on November 18. 2019. He has been in the Supreme Court since April 2013. He was a member of the five-member constitutional bench that ruled on the Ayodhya case and the 9-member bench that declared privacy a fundamental right. Son of renowned lawyer Arvind Srinivas Bobde, SA Bobde hails from Nagpur.

Bobde's farewell function will be held via video conference in view of the COVID pandemic. The function will commence at 5 pm today.
