THIRUVANANTHPAURAM: As part of restrictions imposed following the escalation of transmission of Covid in the state, Thiruvananthapuram Range DIG K Sanjay Kumar Gurudin informed that inspections and surveillance will be made strict on Saturdays and Sundays in the capital city. Strict action will be taken against those stepping out unnecessarily. One should go out only for essential services, informed the DIG.

Everyone should stay at home and cooperate with the regulations. Those in the essential service category can travel with an ID card for work related purposes. Shops of essential services can open. Ceremonies, including pre-arranged weddings can be condcuted according to Covid protocol. The DIG said that the public travelling for other essentials should inform the concerned officers the reason and avoid unnecessary outings.

As part of inspection 447 officers and 1100 police personnel will be deployed daily under the Thiruvananthapuram Range to ensure whether adhering to Covid protocol. Enforcement will also be monitored at the Range DIG's office.

During inspections conducted the other day as part of implementing Covid restrictions, 14093 violations were found and 75870 people were made aware. Checking and surveillance will be carried out strictly in the coming days. He said that it would be ensured that there is no obstacle for the public getting essential services they need.

Tomorrow is a holiday for government offices. Work from home will be encouraged as much as possible. It has been decided that only 50 per cent of the employees in government institutions need come. More sector officers and police will be deployed for the prevention of the disease. Normal shops outside the cantonment zone will be opened till 9 pm. The government has also directed to implement work from home in the private sector.
