THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the district collector's direction that no more than five people should be allowed in places of worship came after consultation with religious and political leaders.

"The district collector informed that the decision regarding the regulations in places of worship was taken after discussion with religious organizations, political representatives and MLAs," the CM said during the press meet on Friday. He also said that more decisions on the restrictions would be taken at a meeting of political parties on Monday.

Earlier, certain religious organisations had alleged that the decision on restrictions in places of worship was taken without consulting the organizations. The Samastha Kerala Jamiat-ul-Ulema and the Kerala Muslim Jamaat demanded that the decision should be reconsidered. Muslim League leader KPA Majeed had also come out against the regulation.
