PALAKKAD: More data which show that money worth crores had reached the state ahead of the assembly polls are out. The incident of a prominent national party making arrangements to bring the Rs 3.5 crore from Karnataka, and its leaders making a failed attempt to get hold of that money by forging a fake accident came to light on Friday. The latest reports say that a similar type of conspiracy held in Palakkad also.

The ‘accident plan’ was forged by leaders of Palakkad to gain hold over unaccounted money worth Rs four crore which was brought to Palakkad in order to send it to Thrissur district. But the plan didn’t work out due to the lack of attention of the car driver and thus the leaders cancelled the plan.

Initially, they had decided to create the accident at the deserted Vadakancherry, which lies in between Palakkad and Thrissur. It is an accident-prone area. After diligently planning the entire scheme of operation the leaders also gave proper instructions to the car driver. But the driver who didn’t understand the place, send a reply message to the conspirators, which unknowingly was delivered to another person. This confusion eventually leaked confidential information to the police department.

The message which the driver unknowingly sent to the wrong person read, “Where the accident should take place?,” The driver also informed the leaders that he had sent the message to somebody else by mistake. The police finally nabbed the driver by tracing his phone signals. Investigation of the Palakkad police on the case is ongoing.
