KOZHIKODE: With the sharp rise in Covid deaths in the state, bodies are being buried in large numbers in many places. On April 20, Kerala Kaumudi published a picture of the bodies being buried together in the Kozhikode Westhill Cemetery. The picture was captured by Rohit Thayyil, a photographer at the Kerala Kaumudi Kozhikode bureau.
The Covid Enforcement Squad of Kozhikode Corporation alone buried nine bodies that day. This process is still ongoing. But the viral image later spread widely on social media in a way that misled people. The image of Kozhikode Westhill Cemetery was portrayed in a way that it was a snap from Gujarat.
