THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The wife of Siddique Kappan, a journalist imprisoned in Uttar Pradesh on UAPA charges, has requested the Chief Minister to intervene immediately in the matter. Raihana, Kappan's wife, said the CM has not commented on the matter so far. "Even if he was afraid of losing the votes of others, he can talk now as the election is over", she told the media.
Raihana has come out with such a reaction after the news came out that Kappan has tested positive for Covid.
"The Chief Minister has not said anything so far or gave a reason for it. What is wrong with Siddique Kappan? Is the Chief Minister afraid? Everyone knows he's a journalist. The Chief Minister may not be able to do anything legally. But would anything happen to the Chief Minister if he sends a letter?", she asked
"I hope that the Chief Minister will intervene at least now. In such a situation the life of Kappan is important. Action shouldn't be taken after two or three days. It is a matter of life. With so many deaths and murders going on, this will not be an issue for anyone. But it is an issue for me, my family and the children", Raihana added.
"The Chief Minister may not be able to intervene in court proceedings. But can intervene in the present situation. I have spoken politely for so long. But now I am not able to keep things within my control. I am a woman and his wife. I do not know what to say. One can only know if they go through this", she said.
Kappan's family had approached the apex court yesterday seeking proper treatment and shifting of Kappan from the current hospital.
