NEW DELHI: Kerala is preparing to provide help to the national capital which is reeling under a severe shortage of oxygen. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and various Malayalee organisations in NCR has sought Kerala’s help as it is the only state in India which have surplus oxygen production. Kerala is gearing up to help Delhi in the wake of such requests.
Kerala chief secretary V P Joy has informed Delhi that the state is willing to help the national capital. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has also taken a conducive stand on the issue. Whereas the chief secretary has said even though the state is willing to provide oxygen cylinders, transporting them from Kerala to Delhi is a challenge. He also added that subsequent talks with Delhi chief secretary Vijay Dev are ongoing on the issue.
Delhi authorities have pleaded before the Kerala chief secretary that state’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan must take measures to transport oxygen cylinders to New Delhi once Kejriwal’s letter is received to the chief minister. Janasamskriti—A Malayalee organisation in Delhi has also sent a letter to the chief minister asking to take steps to provide oxygen cylinders to New Delhi which is reeling under the pandemic’s threat.
