THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP president K Surendran has said that authorities must refrain from creating unnecessary panic over the distribution of covid vaccines. Surendran made this statement while speaking during the all-party meet convened by the chief minister. “When other states are booking vaccines, the state is showing a lackadaisical attitude over the issue,” he said. Surendran also demanded that the government should take the initiative to book the required number of vaccines as soon as possible.
“The vaccination drive in Kerala is moving forward at a snail’s pace. This problem must be resolved by starting more vaccination camps. The government must take measures to reduce the cost of RT-PCR tests in private labs by one-third. Surendran also added that Pinarayi must consider other states as an example to buy the much-needed vaccines,” Surendran demanded.
The delay in getting the test results of RT-PCR tests must be reduced. This will only lead to the further spread of the pandemic. As of now, people had to wait for four to five days for the results. The government must start more oxygen centres to curb the rising demand for oxygen which might occur in the future. Similar to the lockdown period, the government must release those prisoners who are behind the bars for committing minor crimes, in order to reduce the spread of the pandemic in jails.
