liquor

KOCHI: The Beverages Corporation has decided to implement a one-click door-to-door delivery of liquor within 10 days. It is hoped that government approval will be obtained soon. This comes after the second wave of Covid got severe.

The corporation had earlier examined the possibility of home delivery but dropped it last May due to opposition from many quarters. Instead BevQ was launched. The same website will undergo changes for the home delivery system. Online food delivery companies will deliver bottles home. The liquor trade is the main source of income for the government. The financial crisis will be exacerbated if liquor shops have to close. The assessment is that the government will not reject the proposal of the corporation in this case.

Two districts at first

The decision has been taken to implement the project on a trial basis in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam districts and then move on to other districts. The Corporation will also liaise with the Excise Department in this regard.

No BevQ

In the wake of Covid's surge, Faircode Technologies approached Beverages Corporation for permission to restart BevQ, but the Corporation did not consider it. The corporation's assessment is that there was a malfunction in the operation of the app. The BevQ app, which hit the Play Store on May 28, 2020, was temporarily shut down in January 2021.
