THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP state president K Surendran has welcomed the decision of the Central Election Commission(CEC) not to hold celebrations on the day of the election results in the wake of the second wave of COVID. "The BJP takes seriously the concern that demonstrations and celebrations will lead to the spread of COVID. The government should take strong action in this regard. Party workers have been instructed not to gather in large numbers on the day of election results. Everyone should stand together against COVID," Surendran said.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) had banned all celebrations on the day of election results. The ban will remain in place for days after the results are declared. The decision of the Election Commission comes at a time when the spread of COVID in the country is at an all-time high.
