The 'Prana Project' has been kicked off at Thrissur Medical College with the intention of providing oxygen to COVID patients. Through the project, oxygen will be directly supplied to the hospital beds through a pipeline. The project will supply oxygen to 500 beds in six wards. The project was designed by doctors of the medical college. It costs Rs 12,000 to supply oxygen to one bed.
Actor and MP Suresh Gopi has become a part of the project by delivering the required oxygen to a ward in the hospital. During the initial days of the pandemic, patients were given oxygen through cylinders.
The actor made donations to this project as part of his charity work in the name of his daughter who died in a car accident. The cost of installing this system in 64 beds is Rs 7.6 lakh. The actor has not used his MP fund for this. While handing over the check, Suresh Gopi said that he wanted to ensure that not a single COVID patient dies without oxygen.
