THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After more than three weeks of waiting and anxiety, the votes will be counted tommorow. Counting of postal votes will begin at 8 am and votes in machines will begin at 8:30 am. There are 5,84,238 postal votes in total, which is an average of 4,100 votes in a constituency. Earlier, one table was assigned for counting postal votes. This time the postal votes have increased by at least a thousand. So the number of tables has been increased. However, the results of the postal votes will be only out by 9.30 am.

There are more halls to count the voting machines. 633 halls in 140 constituencies - three to five halls in one constituency. A hall will be to count postal votes.

Previously there were 14 tables in a hall. This time seven were added to keep social distance. The voting machines are counted in a total of 21 tables. One thousand votes are counted in one table. Previously 14,000 votes were counted in one round, this time it will be 21,000. It takes 45 minutes to complete a round without disputes. One hour to complete the procedure and announce the result.

Accordingly, the first round result will be released at 9.30 am. The average turnout in the constituencies was between 1.50 lakh and 1.80 lakh. Counting will be completed in 7 to 9 rounds this time as against 10 to 12 rounds earlier.
