THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 35,636 COVID-19 cases on Saturday. Among these, 33,196 persons developed the disease through contact, including 2136 cases without an identified source of infection. 223 persons, who came from outside the state, tested positive for the virus. 81 health workers contracted the disease on Saturday.

15,493 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 3,23,828 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 48 deaths due to the virus on Saturday with the toll rising to 5356.

1,46,474 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate stands at 24.33.

With the addition of 36 new regions and the removal of 1, there are 663 hotspots in the state.
