KANNUR: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday said that the health workers fighting against COVID-19 in the state are working hard without rest. The reduction in RTPCR test rates in the state comes after a detailed study. Studies have shown that it costs around Rs 240 per person. The decision regarding the new rate was made after considering the workload of those who perform the tests. The CM also said that action would be taken against those labs that refuse to conduct RT-PCR testing.

The grievances of laboratories can be solved through discussion. It has come to the notice of the government that some labs are encouraging the Truenat test, which is more expensive than other tests. This is not an opportunity to make profit, the CM said.

No more than 50 persons will be allowed to enter even the largest places of worship in the state. In the case of vaccine distribution, the CM said that the vaccine will not be available immediately to those above 18 years of age. The CM said that people should not wear masks with valves and should wear double masks. The CM also requested that private hospitals should provide 50 percent beds for COVID patients.

The CM once again asked all the political parties and their supporters to avoid any victory processions, celebrations, gatherings or thanksgiving events on the counting day post the announcement of the election results in view of the serious COVID situation in the state.
