THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A travel pass cannot be issued to all applicants, said DGP Lokanath Behra. More police will have to be deployed from tomorrow. It is the responsibility of the owner to transport labourers to the construction site in a special vehicle. An affidavit is needed to step out for emergency purposes, the police chief said.

A pass is mandatory to those going for work. In addition, the DGP assured that steps would be taken to provide security to the policemen on lockdown duty. The move comes amid news that Covid is rising among police.

There is a big rush for the travel pass issued by the police. Almost forty thousand people have applied in one night. The police said majority of the applicants are unnecessary travellers and the pass will be issued only for emergency travel.
