THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: PC Chacko who defected from Congress to NCP, will become the new president of the party’s Kerala unit. Party’s national president Sharad Pawar has granted an official nod to the recommendation of state leaders making him the party’s Kerala chief. Earlier a section of party workers has demanded the national leadership to change incumbent president Peethambaran.
Yesterday, P C Chacko made certain crucial moves to get a ministerial berth for the party’s MLA A K Saseendran and it was also due to Chacko’s advice that LDF leadership rejected the proposal of half ministerial tenure to Thomas K Thomas.
P C Chacko who had defected to NCP lately had not become the party’s office bearer, yet Sharad Pawar asked him to participate as the party’s representative in the LDF meet held yesterday. Incumbent party president Peetahmbaran’s demand was to give ministership to Thomas K Thomas instead of Saseendran. However, with Saseendran becoming the minister and with Chacko at the helm of the leadership, a new faction is likely to emerge in the party.
