THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Congress high command has given a green signal for the leadership change in the congress in Kerala. It is heard that V D Satheesan may be made opposition leader. K Sudhakaran may head the KPCC and P T Thomas MLA will be the UDF convenor.

The announcement on the new opposition leader will be made today or tomorrow. The high command representatives had the other day met party MLAs in Thiruvananthapuram. Young MLAs had informed Mallikarjun Kharge and V Vaithilingam the need for a generation change. The final decision is based on their report.

With the support of Oommen Chandy, Ramesh Chennithala was expected to continue as the opposition leader. The young MLAs had supported V D Satheesan. The youth leadership had informed that if Chennithala continues, the people would lose credibility.

The high command thinks that with the arrival of V D Satheesan as the opposition leader, changes can be made at the organizational level. If Chennithala continues then Mullappally should also be given another chance. The high command is planning to make K Sudhakaran the KPCC chief and replace M M Hassan with P T Thomas as the UDF convener.
