THRISSUR: BJP leaders failed to appear before the investigation team in the Kodakara hawala money laundering case. The investigation team had asked them to appear for interrogation. They had informed the team that they cannot appear.

The investigation team had directed BJP state organization general secretary M Ganesh and state committee office secretary Gireesh to appear for interrogation today. Many including senior officers had arrived for the interrogation. The leaders had sought two days’ time and informed them their inconvenience to reach for the interrogation.

BJP's Thrissur district general secretary K R Hari, district treasurer Sujay Senan and BJP regional secretary G Kashinathan were earlier summoned by the special team to take evidence. The investigation team is getting ready to question the state leaders after that.

Meantime, the police found that Rs 3.5 crore in the case was brought to hand over to a native of Alappuzha. The police got the statement from Sunil Naik and Dharmarajan, the mediators of the deal. However, the statement said that he did not know to whom the money was being handed over to. The police have found that the money came from Karnataka and from centres affiliated to the BJP.
