THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V D Satheesan said, “without kneeling before any communal organisation, the party will make a strong comeback by implementing Nehruvian socialism in pragmatic politics.” He also said that as a party, Congress is bound to fight against minority and majority appeasement. “Kerala’s general conscience is against the hate politics of Sangh Parivar. Therefore the first priority of UDF is to bury the communal politics in the state through an ideological battle,” he said in his Facebook post.

His Facebook post is as follows:

I am taking up the responsibility bestowed upon me by the party. As I said in the press conference held yesterday, I am not taking up the position under the false impression of any floral crown. I would like to express my gratitude to the senior Congress leaders in the state and also to the party high command for choosing me to take up this responsibility. Today the people would like to have a new wave of functioning from the opposition by addressing the concerns of the new generation. Changes to subserve the varying demands of our time should be made in every sector.

I hereby affirm that my duties and functions will be fulfilled by taking along with me all sections of people and all party allies in UDF. I guarantee that by subserving their interests I will function as an effective opposition leader inside and outside the assembly. As I have always said, my political life is an endless battle against communalism.

We should put up a fight against minority and majority appeasement.
