NEW DELHI: More states have opined that the CBSE board exams should not be cancelled. The states suggested that the exams shall be held in or after September. Meanwhile, Delhi and Maharashtra opined that the board exams should be cancelled. The states expressed their views at a meeting of education ministers convened by the central government to discuss about the board examinations, including the CBSE.
The states have expressed the view that the examination should not be cancelled as the number of COVID cases in the country continues to decline. The general feeling among the states is that the examinations should be conducted. However, the examinations cannot be held before July. There is also a suggestion to give students more than one opportunity. The Centre has suggested that only certain examinations shall be conducted. The proposal to change the exam duration to one and a half hours was also discussed. The final decision in this regard has been left to the Prime Minister. States also demanded that students be vaccinated as soon as possible.
