ALAPPUZHA: Two friends in Thuravoor were found dead in their homes. The two identified as Baiju (50) and Stephen (46), residents of Chavady near Thuravoor, were found dead under mysterious circumstances at their homes.

The police said the two had been drinking at Baiju's house last night. After that Stephen went home. Baiju was found dead inside the house at 7 am. Stephen was also found dead by friends who came in search of him. The police said empty bottles of arrack and sanitizer were found in an investigation conducted.

Police is of the belief that they may have consumed strong arrack or sanitizer along with alcohol. The bodies of Baiju and Stephen have been shifted to Thuravoor Taluk Hospital for post-mortem, police said.

All liquor outlets in the state have been shut in view of the lockdown.
