THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said in a press conference that the lockdown has helped in reducing the spread of the disease in the state. At present, the state is witnessing a decline in the number of Covid patients and test positivity rate. Today the test positivity is 20.41. The three-day average TPR is 22.6 percent. Ten days ago, the number of active cases in the state was close to 4.5 lakh. It has come down to 277598 as of yesterday. Ten days ago, 91 percent of Covid patients were treated at home and the rest in hospitals. At present, 14 percent of patients are hospitalized. It will take another two to three weeks to reduce the congestion in hospitals. It will take time to reduce the mortality rate, the CM said.

It has been 9 days since triple lockdown was implemented in the Malappuram district. There has been a decrease in the number of patients and the TPR. . In Malappuram, most people are contracting the disease from their homes. Having more joint families will increase the spread of the disease. Patients will be transferred to CFLTCs from homes that do not have adequate quarantine facilities.

Covid hospitals with all facilities will be set up in every taluk. CFLTCs with 400 beds will also be prepared. Stabilization centres will be set up locally. Control rooms have been set up in all 15 medical blocks. Case will be registered against those violating home quarantine. Such people will be shifted to CFLTCs. Those who violate the triple lockdown will be tested and, if tested positive, they will be shifted to CFLTCs.
