THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP state president K Surendran has demanded an end to the false propaganda spread by some in Kerala on the Lakshadweep issue. "The policy of the Modi government is national security and development. The aim of the Central Government is to ensure the safety and development of the people of the island", he said.

Surendran said that the administrator is working for this.

"The media reported that terrorist activities and drug trafficking were taking place in some uninhabited areas of the island. The Central Government will not allow such destructive activities. But some in Kerala are trying to portray that all this is against a religious sect. Their aim is to undermine the work for the development of Kavaratti Airport. With the development of Kavaratti Airport becoming a reality, the face of Lakshadweep will change. The government is trying to turn the island into a world-class tourist destination. The target of those who spread lies with communal aims is to stagnate the development of Lakshadweep. The island administrator, Praful Patel, is opposed by some for the sole reason that he is a Gujarati", Surendran said.

K Surendran added that some people are using the name of Lakshadweep unnecessarily to divide the people communally in Kerala.
