THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The opposition UDF warmly welcomed K K Rema when she entered the house with a badge of her slain husband T P Chandrasekharan's photo on her sari. “It is not me, it is my husband TP who will be in the assembly. When I won I had mentioned that it is not me who won but my husband. A badge with TP’s image was fixed on the sari as a symbol of it. This badge is to give a message against the politics of murder,” she told Kerala Kaumudi.
First time in the assembly, leaders of the party opposing RMP on one side, how were those moments?
I arrived with the energy and strength of TP. All I saw inside the assembly were people's representatives. The ruling party on one side and the opposition on the other. There will be the chief minister and ministers of the ruling party. They all belong to Kerala, the struggle of the RMP will continue.
Three from the CPM including a minister had sworn in in the name of God?
I don’t know in which component of the Marxist party they belong to. Naturally, a person who has embraced Marxism and studied paradoxical materialism will not go into such a spiritual thought for any reason. They have to introspect how it happened.
Has the CPM made a right-wing shift?
Now everything is going in an event management style. It often does not see the need to take the side of a working class party. What we are putting forward is left alternative politics.
Why is RMP not growing beyond an area?
The growth of a political party does not happen overnight. The CPM took a long time to grow? The RMP is growing gradually.
Why decided to sit in a separate bloc?
Our existence and political identity have given us complete freedom to move forward. The matter was earlier discussed with the Congress leadership.
Will all accused in TP murder case be convicted?
I don’t believe so in the present political situation. Those who wanted to see the destruction of TP is till ruling. Hope is in the court. The good decisions taken by the government will be accepted and will oppose anti-people things.
Met Pinarayi Vijayan after a long time?
I met the chief minister of Kerala in the assembly. It is the duty of every citizen to respect and honour him.
Are you confident that the government will support development of the constituency?
I expect that. I don’t think revenge will be shown to the people of my constituency. Had worked with most of the ministers.
