KOZHIKODE: There is a shortage of drugs for the treatment of black fungus in the state. The drug liposomal amphotericin was expected to arrive Tuesday evening, but the state has not received it.
There is shortage of the injection liposomal amphotericin. The state started facing the shortage from Monday. The authorities said the injection is expected to arrive today. Kozhikode Medical College Hospital has the highest number of black fungus patients in the state. About 20 people are being treated here.
Amphotericin is being given to patients in regular doses to prevent treatment failure. Although the medical services corporation had informed to deliver the medicine by yesterday evening, it did not arrive. Only 50 vials of amphotericin arrived.
