THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rains have lashed across Kerala due to the impact of the Yaas cyclone. Central and Northern Kerala has witnessed strong rains. Except for Wayanad, Malappuram and Kasargod, Yellow alerts were declared in 11 districts.

As the flow of water increased due to strong rains, one shutter of the Idukki Kallarkutty dam has been opened. The District administration has issued alert messages to the people living in the banks of Muthirapuzha and Periyar. Strong rains are ongoing in the Pathanamthitta district and also in the high range areas of the state.

Water levels in Pampa and Achankovil river have increased. Strong rains have destroyed the Kole fields in Malappuram. In Thiruvananthapuram, one person died in the landfalls in Kannammoola, which occurred due to heavy rains. Heavy rains are ongoing in Thiruvananthapuram.
