NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said Covid-19 is the worst crisis that humanity faces in decades as the world have not seen a pandemic like this in a century.
Our planet will not be the same after Covid-19, we will remember events in future as either pre or post-Covid, PM Modi said delivering the keynote address on the occasion of "Virtual Vesak Global Celebrations" on Buddha Purnima.
PM Modi extended condolences to those who suffered, lost near and dear ones in the pandemic. "I grieve with them," he said.
The Prime Minister lauded the role of scientists who worked on Covid-19 vaccines and said "India is proud of them."
"We now have a better understanding of the pandemic which strengthens our strategy to fight. We have the vaccine which is important to save lives and defeat the pandemic," he added.
The Prime Minister also praised individuals and organizations who rose to the occasion to do everything possible to reduce the suffering of people.
He had a special word of appreciation for the generous contribution of equipment and materials made by the Buddist organizations and followers of Buddh dharma from the world over.
