PATHANAMTHITTA: Heavy rains have lash across Pathanamthitta due to the influence of the Yaas cyclone. As the water levels in the Pampa and Achankovil rivers have risen to dangerous levels, the district administration has issued flood alerts.

The alert messages of the district administration have advised that those who are living in river banks must go to safer places. They must move to nearby flood relief camps as per the directions of village officers and village panchayat officers. The alerts also advise people not to conduct night travel, especially in high range areas.

Water levels have spiked in all the rivers in the district due to heavy rains. As the latest alerts from IMD says that heavy rains will continue in 11 districts of Kerala including Pathanamthitta, a yellow alert has been declared in the state until Sunday.
