Mohammed Hashim, former state general secretary of Yuva Morcha in Lakshadweep, said that they had joined the BJP with great hopes but that the current situation in Lakshadweep was causing great distress. The former Yuva Morcha leader said that many of the BJP members had resigned out of frustration at the party's stance of not even protesting against the allegations that they were terrorists.
He said this in an interview given to the online edition of a Malayalam news media. Mohammed Hashim said it was "objectionable" that a letter he had sent to the party leadership was rejected by the leadership which claimed that it was just a personal opinion. Mohammed Hashim also criticized the party leadership for rejecting a letter he had sent by claiming that it was just a personal opinion. He said that no BJP leader, including those from Kerala, was willing to contact them to find out how they felt about recent developments.
Hashim said he suspected that administrator Praful Khoda Patel, who takes decisions unilaterally without consulting the party, has only personal business interests. Many of the moves made on the pretext of the party agenda have nothing to do with the central leadership of the party. His past history also points to it," Hashim said.
He said that he did not understand why the Goonda Act was introduced on the island and that the islanders had not seen a single goonda or terrorist on the island for so long.
