THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the Covid positivity rate in the state has stayed below 20 per cent for the last three days. The Chief Minister said this at a press conference in the evening. The CM also said that the triple lockdown in Malappuram district will be withdrawn due to low TPR in the district. He said the lockdown would continue in the state from May 31 to June 9.
Test positivity in Thiruvananthapuram is 20.21 and Palakkad is 23.86. In Malappuram district, TPR decreased to 17.25 per cent. The district's Covid test positivity rate had risen from 28.75 per cent on May 21 to 31.53 per cent on May 23. It is declining now. In this case, the triple lockdown in Malappuram has been exempted from May 30. "The lockdown will continue there and there will be strict restrictions", Chief Minister informed.
Although the spread is generally declining, we have not yet reached the point of lifting lockdown. The lockdown will continue in all districts from May 31 to June 9. Some concessions will be given on lockdown. This is to perform essential functions, the CM said. The state has confirmed 23,513 Covid cases today. Of those diagnosed today, 139 are from outside the state. 22,016 people were infected through contact.
