THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A decision will be taken after studying the order in the High Court verdict on the minority scholarship ratio, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said. "It is a system that has existed for decades. It has been implemented by successive governments in Kerala. After studying the High Court judgment, we can decide on it", he said.
"The High Court issued the judgment. The system that has existed in Kerala for a long time is generally accepted. The High Court judgment needs to be examined. Only then can a position be taken" he added. At the same time, the Chief Minister responded to the stand of Local Self Government Minister MV Govindan that the verdict would be implemented.
"The Minister must respect the judgment of the High Court. Therefore, the position of the Minister should be seen only as respect for that judgment. But its diversity needs to be considered. Only then will we take a stand", CM Vijayan said. The Chief Minister said that one could only say the High Court judgment would be implemented.
Muslim organizations have come out against the High Court's decision to quash the 80:20 ratio of minority scholarships in the state. The organizations, including Samastha, demanded that the government appeal against the court order. At the same time, KCBC demanded that the government be prepared to enact legislation to ensure equal justice for minorities.
