KOLLAM: Police have registered a case in the incident where 25 ambulances were deployed for the mourning procession. The case was registered after 25 ambulances were seen simultaneously blowing siren during the mourning procession of an ambulance driver who died in a road accident.

Kottarakkara police registered a case after the footage of the violation came out. Four persons, including Unnikuttan, an ambulance driver from Kottarakkara, were killed in an accident at Kareelakulangara yesterday.

As Unnikuttan's body was being brought to Kottarakkara, ambulances rang the siren and drove along the road. As per law, ambulances can blow the siren only when they are carrying patients or during emergencies.

Police also stated that the ambulance drivers had violated Covid protocol during the procession. Kottarakkara police have registered a case against 13 ambulance drivers. The ambulance drivers have been booked for violating Covid protocol. The Department of Motor Vehicles also stated that action will be taken against ambulances.
