THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Veena George has said that the health department has issued guidelines for vaccination of bedridden patients above the age of 45 years. The move to get bedridden vaccinated at homes is part of the government's decision to ensure the protection of inpatients from COVID. The guideline was issued to unify their vaccination process.

Bedridden patients under the age of 45 were previously included in the vaccination priority list. The minister said they would also be vaccinated under the same guidelines. A list of all bedridden patients over the age of 45 registered with each health facility should be prepared and ascertained whether they are ready for vaccination.

Consent must be obtained from each patient for vaccination. Their participation should be ensured by including them in the daily home care program. Local Governments can ensure the participation of voluntary organizations (NGOs / CBOS) if required.
