THRISSUR: A case has been registered against BJP Thrissur district general secretary KR Hari for allegedly threatening OBC Morcha vice president Rishi Palpu. As per the complaint filed by Rishi, Hari had made death threats against him for criticising BJP leaders in connection with the Kodakara hawala case on social media. On Monday, Rishi Palpu was suspended from the BJP.

BJP district president KK Aneesh Kumar has been asked to appear for questioning in connection with the case. He was directed to reach the police club at 10 am on Wednesday. Whenever the suspects were called in for questioning by the investigation team, the district president took them to the police club in the party's official car. A section of leaders and party workers had protested against this.

However, the probe team has rejected the statements made by BJP leaders in recent days. According to a state leader, the complainant Dharmarajan was in charge of elections. However, Dharmarajan told the police that the leaders did not call him to tell him about the organization. Thrissur district office secretary Tirur Satheesh had said that Dharmarajan, driver Shamjeer, and helper Rashid, who smuggled money in the car, were given a room in the lodge as per the instructions of the district leaders. This statement has also put the leaders on the defensive.

As the leaders began to be summoned for questioning one by one, there was a split among the ranks. The main allegation of the official section is that it was a state leader who put the party in crisis in the hawala case.
