NEW DELHI: The Ashok Chavan Committee appointed by the congress to evaluate the party’s poll debacle in the assembly elections submitted the report to the high command. The KPCC chief will be selected soon based on the report.

The committee assessed that overconfidence backfired in the elections. The report has not blamed anyone personally. The report also mentioned that there was no collective leadership. The report submitted last night will be examined by the working committee. The high command will take a decision on the KPCC chief based on this report. The high command had made it clear that no one should nominate themselves. There are indications that a survey is being conducted on the KPCC chief and the new person will be appointed based on this.

The working committee meet formed the Ashok Chavan Committee on May 11. They were asked to submit a report in two weeks. Although it was informed that they would reach Kerala, they could not due to the lockdown. The committee sought information online. They assessed things on the election defeat from MLAs, MPs, other MPs, people’s representatives, senior leaders, journalists and political observers.

The Ashok Chavan Committee submitted a comprehensive report on the defeat in the assembly elections in four states including Kerala.
