KASARGOD: Anjali (21), daughter of Sreedharan, who went missing from Pullur in Kasargod, has been traced in Telangana. The Ambalathara police found her following information from activists of the Malayalee Samajam. They grew suspicious after she was found staying alone in a lodge.

Ambalathara inspector Rajeevan Valiyavalappil, sub inspector Madhusoodanan and woman police officer Rethi investigating the case reached Hyderabad around 5 pm yesterday, contacted the Telangana police and took her into custody. Anjali was identified after examining her Aadhaar card. Anjali, who said she reached Hyderabad by train, refused to respond to other questions of the police.

Anjali went missing from her home on April 19. Her wedding was fixed for April 25. Her missing had stoked a controversy then. A police probe found that she had reached Kanhangad railway station and boarded the Chennai Mail. She was alone while traveling from Chennai to Telangana. Although an investigation was conducted on suspicion that she went with a youth from Pallikara, the police received the information that he was in the Gulf.

The police had gone to Chennai and Bengaluru twice as part of the investigation, but could not find her. Police had issued look-out notices to Malayalee community activists in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on suspicion of she entering Hyderabad via Bengaluru.

Anjali left home with the gold of ten sovereigns kept for her wedding. The police had found that she had sold the ornaments in a jewellery shop in Chennai. The police also collected the CCTV footages of the woman selling the jewellery. The police are of the belief that she may have left the house dissatisfied with the marriage.
