THRISSUR: Police have found that the accused in the Kodakara hawala case, Ranjith and Deepak had reached the BJP’s local party office in Thrissur. The probe team is under the inference that they might have reached the office post assembly polls. They are also investigating whether the accused were summoned by other BJP leaders to the office. Police will also check the CCTV camera in the office to gain more clarity over the issue.

Sources say that police will summon a high-profile state leader for interrogation in connection with the case. The probe team suspects the involvement of the leader in the theft case of hawala money. The police team may also seek legal advice before questioning the state leader.

Meanwhile, the latest information says that BJP leaders have also launched an in party investigation to find the stolen money. Sources say the in party investigation was started at the same time when police had received a complaint on the case.

On the basis of the in-party probe certain BJP leaders had gone to Kannur and had also met one of the accused. The party’s candidate in Kunnamkulam and the party’s district chief, KK Aneesh Kumar was not in Thrissur, when these incidents happened. But on April 2, when other accused in the case including Dharmarajan reached Thrissur with the money Aneesh was there.

Dharmarajan along with his gang and Aneesh were in the same tower location for about 3.5 hours. Sources say that Aneesh Kumar and other BJP leaders were in Thrissur town until early morning. The police team which had summoned Aneesh Kumar is currently interrogating him.
