THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Congress high command is yet to make a final decision regarding the leader who will succeed Mullappally Ramachandran as KPCC president. The names of MPs K Sudhakaran and Kodukunnil Suresh are being actively discussed. The AICC General Secretary in charge of Kerala, Tariq Anwar, will announce the final decision after another round of talks with the leaders.

The discussion regarding the new KPCC president intensified after Mullappally announced his resignation following the election defeat. K Sudhakaran, who has been at the forefront of the list of contenders, has the support of a good number of leaders. But Kodikunnil Suresh's name was suggested by some senior leaders who are not fond of Sudhakaran. Although the High Command wants to name the KPCC president in the same way that the leader of the opposition was elected, it has been suggested that senior leaders should not be offended. Following this, Tariq Anwar has been sent to Kerala.
