THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 16,229 COVID-19 cases on Friday. Among these, 15,160 persons developed the disease through contact, including 913 cases without an identified source of infection. 89 persons, who came from outside the state, tested positive for the virus. 67 health workers contracted the disease on Friday.

25,860 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 1,74,526 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 135 deaths due to the virus on Friday with the toll rising to 9510.
