KOCHI: Police have come up against the move to conduct BJP’s core committee meet in a hotel at Kochi amid the lockdown. Police hold the view that conducting the meeting during the lockdown will amount to a violation of regulations. They are also scrutinising other details of the meeting.
The crucial core committee meeting is being organised in the hotel at Kochi when the Kodakara case investigation is turning towards K Surendran and his son. The leaders who were invited to the meeting have reached the hotel. BJP has given the clarification that only 12 persons are participating in the meeting.
Meanwhile, the police have decided to send a notice, if the meeting is not conducted in accordance with the regulations of lockdown. They say that such meeting cannot be allowed during the lockdown period.
Meanwhile, the case has been registered against BJP state president K Surendran on K Sundara’s allegation that he was given money by Surendran to withdraw from the poll fray. Sundara has said that Surendran had offered him money to withdraw from the poll fray in the Manjeshwaram constituency.
The case against Surendran was registered under the 171-E and 171-B sections. The investigation was called upon the complaint of the left candidate in the constituency, V V Ramesh. The complaint which was submitted before the Kasargod district police chief, following Sundara’s revelation was later transferred to Badiyadduka police station. Cases have also registered against the local BJP workers in Manjeshwaram.
