THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Nithin, who has been helping Covid patients to maintain their mental health, has found support from various corners of society. Today marks the 450th day since he started helping the Covid patients at the General Hospital.
Even when all those who came in the first phase as volunteers withdrew, the health department failed to notice Nithin who continued to help the patients with great compassion. Those who came to know about Nithin were shocked and saddened by the unwillingness of the authorities to pay even the smallest reward to this young man. Many of the celebrities who lauded Nithin were open about it.
"Dedicated people like Nithin are the strength behind the battle against Covid. Many even forget to sleep during this fight. Maintaining the mental health of Covid patients is not easy. This young man should be commended for working selflessly," VK Prasanth MLA said.
"The RMO says in the news that it is unable to pay. The government, which claims to have done a lot in the fight against Covid, has no excuse for not paying any salary to Nithin. It is a criminal offense for those who provide free kits and food to pretend not to see someone doing such a great service," actor Sreenivasan said.
"I would like to appreciate Nidhin’s work. Social service during the Covid period is dangerous and worrying. Nidhin has been working sincerely by ignoring all such worries. Society has an obligation to provide financial support to protect him and his family. I hope that the government will look into the matter," poet Kureepuzha Sreekumar said.
" It was with great pleasure that I read in 'Kerala Kaumudi' that a young man continues to work without any reward, giving courage to those affected by Covid. Nidhin is a person who has no other source of income. Yet he sets aside his days for others. That is his goodness. Nidhin may have come to the attention of the government. I hope that he will be rewarded soon," Lida Jacob said.
