KOCHI: The Enforcement Directorate has asked for more time to announce the decision in the Kodakara hawala money case. The ED was responding to a petition filed by Lok Tantric Yuva Janata Dal national president Salim Madavoor in the high court seeking an inquiry into the source of the money laundering. The High Court gave ED two weeks to file a detailed affidavit. The case was heard by Justice Ashok Menon.
When the case was last heard, ED was given ten days to state its position. The petitioner has demanded that the ED be handed over the case as the investigation is beyond the jurisdiction of the Kerala Police.
Meanwhile, the Iringalakuda Magistrate's Court adjourned consideration of the petition filed by Dharmarajan, a resident of Kozhikode, seeking release of money and car found in the case. It will be reconsidered on the 30th of this month. The court also asked Dharmarajan to produce documents of the money.
Police have reported in court that the money came with the knowledge of BJP leaders. The police report is also based on the statement of Dharmarajan who smuggled money.
