KOZHIKODE: Police have registered a case against CPM local leaders on a complaint of sexual harassment of a party worker in Vadakara. The woman had lodged a complaint against Vadakara Muliyeri branch secretary Baburaj and DYFI Pathiyekkara regional secretary Lijeesh. Police have registered a case of rape, trespassing and intimidation. Meanwhile, CPM Vadakara Area Secretary Gopalan Master said the accused leaders have been expelled from the party.

The events started three months ago. The CPM branch secretary broke into the house around 11 pm and threatened to kill the complainant and abused her. According to the complaint, the man continued to sexually abuse her after threatening to inform her husband and the locals about the incident.

Later, DYFI leader Lijeesh went to the house of the housewife and sexually abused her after threatening that he knew what the branch secretary had done and would reveal it. She mentally and physically damaged due to continuous abuse and sought treatment from a doctor. It was after this that they approached the police with a complaint.

The police said that a detailed statement from the complainant would be recorded immediately and she would undergo a medical examination.
